I was having stalling issues on my son's 2012 Jetta 2.5. Very random when it does it, but can happen when you are doing 65 (so unsafe). Engine dies and you loose all power and battery light will come on. However, once you get it in neutral, the car will start right back up. Lots of folks seem to have this issue, and many are $1,000 into randomly replacing things (fuel pumps, electrical stuff, etc.) and still have the issue. Read that a few people had success with replacing the crankshaft sensor. Since it is only $50 and easy to install, I thought I would start there. I started by fixing the cheapest culprit. If it works, great. If not, then I am only out $50. I update the video if we still have the issue (but it is so random).
Update as of 3/10/19: No stalling since I replaced this part in November (almost 6 months now). Fingers crossed.
