Sometimes at a wedding a moment happens that hits me so hard that it leaves an impression. Erin and James' wedding did just that for me. Especially when Erin's dad sees her in the dress for the first time. I am not going to lie, it is always a hard moment for me to watch, knowing that my 2 little girls will be there soon.
So what was it about this moment. I had the pleasure of putting a microphone on Erin's dad just moments before he saw her in the dress. I asked him how he was feeling, and he responded with a very calm and collected answer. I didn't think much of it, as I got set for the first look inside of the bride's room. Then dad came into the room. He was instructed to keep his eyes down until Erin told him to look. The moment his eyes opened, you could see his heart melt. You could see the years of time flash in front of his eyes. He could see her on the first day of school, or when she went on her first date. He saw it all. I watched as he was speechless. This moment sometimes hits a dad harder than he'd imagined. It all comes together in this moment.
I am not going to spoil the moment, but what he said when he finally got to see her, is what hit me the hardest. I have thought about it several times since shooting this wedding. It really hit him in his core, and I think it will for you too.
There was so much more about this wedding that I could talk about. How James' letter reading made us tear up, the speeches, their first time seeing each other. It honestly was just about as perfect of a day as we could have hoped for. Erin cut up with us all day, and James treated us like family. We were SO honored to be part of this big day, and can't thank this couple enough for having us out!
Thank you so much to Erin and James, if you need us, please be sure to reach out! Congrats on the marriage, and we hope you enjoy this for a lifetime!!
