Ron: Hey everybody. Ron here at etrailer.com and today we're going to be taking a look at the Konig's premium self-tensioning tire chains on our 2019 Chevrolet Equinox.So here's what our tire chains are going to look like once we have them our Equinox. Now one of my favorite things about these tire chains is the fact that we're going to be able to put them on without having to lay on the ground and get behind the tire because a lot of times we're going to have to drape them over, lay down on the ground and make our connection points but with these, it's going to be a lot simpler and we're not going to have to be in the snow.The links on our chains are going to be D shaped, so they're going to give us excellent traction in snow and ice and it's also going to have these icebreakers here which is going to help break up that ice that's on the road and give us better traction. Now the chain part of our tire chains have been made out of a manganese nickel alloy, which means they're going to be able to hold up to all that moisture from the snow and melting ice and even the road salt, and be really corrosion resistant, so our chains are going to last us a really long time.Our tire chains are going to have a self-tensioning self-centering device built in. That way, when we're driving, we don't have to worry about the chains coming loose or getting those rubber tire adjusters that we've seen with some other style chains. The really nice thing is they're going to use these metal bars here.

They're going to have a lot of attention on them to make sure our chains are nice and tight on our tires. Even if our tires are worn, they're going to provide that nice secure fit.Now the way the tensioning system is going to work is we're going to have this lug nut adapter. It'll mount right to our lug nut. Then there's going to be a strap that attaches to this ratcheting mechanism, so it's going to bring the center in causing tension on these arms which the arms are going to be attached to the chains, making sure it snugs onto the tire and grabs it nice and tight.Our tire chains are going to come as a set for our Equinox and they are going to come with a carrying case, that way we can keep them in the back whenever we're not using them and whenever we do need them they'll be ready for us. Now one thing is is they are going to fit a wide variety of tires so you want to make sure that you follow the instructions because there is a little bit of prep to get it ready for the correct tire size you're going to be using it with.

Now on our Equinox, we have 225-65-R17 tires, so we'll go ahead and show you how to get the tire chain set up and then get them installed.Before we get our tire chains put on, we want to get them set up so they can fit our Equinox properly and if you check your instructions, we are going to have to remove one of these yellow spacers in between. The way we're going to remove it is we're going to take the adaptive piece, kind of like a wheel, out of our kit. That'll go over the nut on the end of that bolt going through that spacer, we can grab the T-bar, that'll go into the bolt and we want to loosen that up.So loosen it up until the nut completely comes off the bolt but we want to hold on to all the pieces, okay so we can put it back to the size that it originally came. Once we have the nut removed, we'll pull the bolt out. There are going to be some springs and that spacer with it.

So we'll pull all these out and we'll set them aside for now. The next thing we need to check is to make sure that the adapters here fits over the lug nut. Now you can lift the entire assembly up and slide it over the lug nut, or if we hold the nut with our fingers, should be able to unthread this.So want to make sure you don't lose the spacer that's pre-attached or the bolt that's going through it. Then we want to take the adapter and make sure that it's going to fit over our lug nuts and that it's not going to be too loose, but it does go all the way over it and snug down. So this one fits pretty well.

So we're going to go ahead and put the adapter back in and just screw that bolt back in place.At this point, we can grab our tire chain and we want to drape the chain over the tire. Want to make sure everything's nice and straight as well, it's not getting twisted. Now obviously you're not going to be able to get the entire chain around the tire because the
