On my recent road trip to the east coast, I visited the gravesite of the the 4th U.S. President, James Madison and First Lady Dolley Madison, at their historic Montpelier plantation, in Virginia.
I also remember one of their slaves, Paul Jennings. Jennings reportedly wrote the very first Presidential memoir and also served as a slave in the White House. So how did he end up buried in a mass grave?
Thanks for joining me today on another historic raod trip to the past and for sharing the memories!
