Global birth rates are changing significantly. To maintain a stable population, experts say each woman needs to have about 2.2 children on average. But in many places in Europe and North America, women are having fewer children than this. In contrast, Africa has the highest birth rate among all continents, with an average of 4.1 children per woman. Africa's population has been growing fast.
