9/20/18 Update:
After further research and replacing control board at back of refer it appears these warmup periods are part of an undocumented fin defrost cycle that happens about every 48 hrs.
Other folks have stated that just turning the refer off and back on will reset the cycle.
Our new board appears to be doing the same thing. We now leave our display in diagnostic mode on screen 3 and monitor fin temp. On temp setting 7 after interior temp stabilizes, fin temps run 23-25 keeping interior at 32-33.
Here's the really big picture,:
1. If you go outside your RV and open the back refer covers and see yellow powder, you need a new cooling unit.
2. Excessive heat from unit will shut it down. If you see a red LED light in the back it could be the unit shut down due to overheating. It will reset itself when temps return to safe operation levels. Time to reset all depends on how fast temps return to normal.
3. This sounds stupid but heat is required to cool (its physics) so if the flame or electric elements are not working the refer won't cool. You need at least one to work.
4. The unit is either full on or full off. Temp is controlled by how long it is on and off.
5. The switch that turns the cooling on or off is the thermistor and is stuck to the fins in the back of the refer section. If its not working correctly neither will your fridge.
6. Make sure the doors are fully closed and if you throw a whole bunch of warm stuff in there expect temps to rise until all that heat can be removed.
The onboard diagnostics continually check all of these functions.
What I have found that fixes my RV refrigerator when I find it warming up.
This whole process can be completed in under 1 minute
The results should be seen in under 30 minutes and you will be able to see what the actual cooling fin temperature is at any time and how just opening the door or adding some warm food affects the temperature and the time it takes to recover.
Things to remember:
1. Make sure everyone is closing the doors until they click by pressing at the corners where the handles are.
2. The fin temperature should always be below 30 to keep the refer compartment in the low 30's
The steps shown can be found here in section 9 on page 73
