As the winter snow melts away and the warm rays of the sun grace our gardens, we can't help but feel the excitement for the upcoming gardening season.
Get ahead of the curve and start planting your spring garden now! It’s true! With the right cold-hardy crops you could be enjoying your homegrown greens as early as May.
The trick to spring garden success is twofold;
1. Choosing the right crops for this early part of the season - think spinach, arugula, certain lettuces, green onions, chard, kale, radishes, and turnips. Some crops do well when transplanted early in the season, while others are find to direct sow as seeds.

2. Make sure to get your plantings under cover when the temperatures are set to dip below freezing. We suggest row cover, a light woven fabric that is held up on hoops. Even though it’s thin, it holds in heat and can increase the temperature around your seedlings by a few degrees - just enough to keep them from freezing. It also protects those delicate plants from cold spring winds.
If you are excited to get your green fingers in the ground, we have you covered! You’ll find a selection of cold hardy seedlings in the Farm Store, along with everything else you need for a successful garden - seeds, organic fertilizers, row cover, potting soil, and more!
Don't wait—start growing your own fresh produce and enjoy the rewards in just a few weeks!
