(7 May 2018) The Slovakian prime minister said his country would not hold elections before 2020 despite ongoing demonstrations following the murder of journalist Jan Kuciak.
Peter Pellegrini made the comments during a media conference with the his Austrian counterpart Sebastian Kurz in Vienna on Monday.
Kurz praised Slovakia for how they were conducting the investigation into the death of Kuciak.
The leaders also spoke about migration and efforts to protect their external borders.
Slovakia and Austria disagree on planned cuts to family assitance for children living outside of Austria.
Austria wants to adjust payments based on the cost of living which could save the country up to 100 million euros per year.
Slovakia is convinced that this plan is illegal under EU law.
