1) It presents the American war hero Admiral George Dewey (commander of the troops in the Philippines during the Spanish-American War of the previous year) on the ship he commanded, the American cruiser Olympia, saying goodbye to the delegation of authorities assigned to discuss with him the arrangements for celebrations for his service to the nation in New York and Washington, D.C.
2) In addition to Admiral Dewey approaching the camera after the guests left, the following authorities are identified in the film: General Nelson Appleton Miles; Admiral William Thomas Sampson and Major Octavius Longworth Pruden; all war hero officers during the Spanish-American War.
