Dr Rakshay Shetty, Pediatric Intensivist & General Pediatrician, Rainbow Children’s Hospital, Marathahalli, Bengaluru, was interviewed on Public TV about the recent incidences of Tomato Fever in children. Tomato Fever is a new mysterious viral fever that has infected many children under five in and around Kerala. The infection gets its name from the tomato-like red rashes and blisters, which are its most common symptoms. The other symptoms include high fever, body ache, fatigue and swollen joints. Dr Shetty said that it is good news that the disease looks like a self-limiting one and usually resolves by itself within a week. Parents are advised not to panic and help their children follow simple precautions to prevent the disease like drinking clean water, washing hands thoroughly and staying away from infected children.
