Breast Implant Illness (BII) is a widely used term for women with breast implants who self identify and describe a variety of symptoms including (but not limited to) fatigue, chest pain, hair loss, headaches, chills, photosensitivity, chronic pain, rash, body odor, anxiety, brain fog, sleep disturbance, depression, neurologic issues, and hormonal issues that they feel are directly connected to their saline or silicone, textured or smooth breast implants.
If you are considering breast augmentation it's important to consider what outcome you are trying to address. Breast augmentation surgery starts with a consultation to determine procedure specifics. One of the most important elements to consider is implant size, type (silicone or saline), and profile (where the implants will sit on your chest).
Many women whose breasts have lost volume over time want to restore their breasts' natural fullness with breast augmentation (this can be further enhanced with fat transfer). Others choose the surgery to add volume to breasts that have been smaller than desired ever since they first developed. Breast implants are available in a wide range of sizes, allowing for anything from modest to dramatic results. Dr. Cassileth will determine the optimal size and position to achieve the optimal shape, improve breast symmetry, and fullness for your body type.
