Almonds and anjeer combined together makes for a unique and decadent modak. A treat for bappa to celebrate a dhamakedar Ganesh Chaturthi!
ALMOND ANJEER MODAK
Ingredients
1 cup almond flour
¼ cup dried figs (anjeer) paste
4-5 dried figs (anjeer), chopped
¼ cup milk
6-8 saffron strands
½ cup powdered sugar
2 tsps ghee + to grease
¼ tsp green cardamom powder
Method
1. Heat a nonstick pan. Add milk, saffron an once the milk comes to a boil, add powdered sugar and mix well till the sugar dissolves.
2. Add almond flour and mix well. Add dried figs paste and mix. Cook on low heat for 5-6 minutes or till the mixture starts to leave the edges of the pan.
3. Add ghee, green cardamom powder and mix well. Add dried figs and mix well.
4. Transfer in a plate and allow to cool. Grease a modak mould with some ghee and fill in with the prepared mixture. Press well.
5. Demould, garnish with silver varq and serve.
