Imagine the merciless sun of the Turkish steppe, endless pastures where herds of sheep roam, and dangerous predators ready to attack.
It was in this harsh world that the history of the Kangal breed originated.
Not so long ago there was a video about Alabai, many people asked for a video review about Kangal and today we will look at this huge dog and the thunderstorm of wolves - Kangal!
Hello friends, you are on the Animal Instinct channel!
Unfortunately, many videos of dog fights are of very poor quality. So I'm sorry, make yourself comfortable, we're starting!
Thousands of years ago, in the heart of Anatolia, there were semi-wild dogs protecting herds from predators. These dogs possessed not only strength and agility, but also incredible devotion to their owners.
In the Kangala region of Central Turkey, local shepherds purposefully crossed the strongest and bravest dogs to create the perfect sheep protector. This is how the breed was born, which later became known as Kangal.
Kangal is not just a dog, it's a legend. He has incredible physical strength, endurance and fearlessness. His task is to protect herds from wolves, bears and other predators, risking his own life.
Kangal is a real defender. For centuries, Kangals have faced wolf packs, protecting herds from their predatory attacks. Their bravery and strength kept the wolves from attacking, and in many ways it was this ability that made Kangal famous all over the world.
Not a very friendly dog, is it?
First of all, the size! After all, the height of an adult dog at the withers can reach up to 32 inches. And if he gets up on his hind legs, he becomes just huge! It seems that even such a fence is not a hindrance to him!
At the same time, the weight of large males can exceed 150 pounds. So he's not to be trifled with! And the dog's body is very powerfully built. For example, this is a comparison of Kangal's paw with a human hand. And the jaws of such a doggie are the strongest among dogs. Kangal has a bite force of up to 750 pounds per square inch. This, for a moment, is comparable to a large gray wolf. Therefore, a dog can easily grind any bones with its teeth.
And he also has a lot of strength! After all, a dog can easily tow a car alone! And Kangal does it fast enough! This monster does not even care about a huge tractor, and Kangal confidently drags it. So do not be surprised that walking such dogs is quite problematic.
Although, as befits real guards, these are quite restrained dogs. For example, Kangal will never just give voice. The dog is not prone to sudden attacks of aggression, and it also lacks a hunting instinct. This makes Kangal a friendly enough pet, and he easily finds a common language even with small children. Although, given the size of the dog, it is not worth leaving children unattended nearby.
Moreover, like all dogs, they tend to play around. For example, they like to have wall-to-wall battles. And here the red Kangals came into confrontation with the light ones. And he will not tolerate it if, for example, a horse starts to bully…
Or he can take revenge on a car that he didn't like in this way: a slight movement with his teeth, and the bumper is carefully removed.
Kangals show completely different qualities when they are at work. As a rule, they occupy high ground for convenient observation of the herd. And in case of danger, the dogs immediately rush at the enemy. So the predator can only get out of there, because it's better not to mess with several Kangals.
Kangals are usually not used alone, entrusting protection to a group of two or four dogs. And since dogs have very strong and dangerous enemies, you can often see collars with large spikes on their necks.
Although the outcome of a meeting with the enemy can be completely unpredictable.
Wolves are the main enemies of sheep, which means Kangals too. They are very strong, hardy and smart. And they also act in packs, which greatly complicates the work of Kangal. Plus, they attack from different sides, blocking literally any opponent.
