As one of the greatest jazz guitarists of his generation, Mike Stern possesses the unique ability to play with the finesse and lyricism of Jim Hall, the driving swing of Wes Montgomery, and the fiery, overdriven attack of Jimi Hendrix. Growing up in the Washington, D.C. area, Stern revered all three of these legendary guitarists, along with powerful blues players like Albert and B.B. King. Elements of these groundbreaking influences can be heard in his playing across numerous recordings, whether as a leader or in his celebrated work as a sideman for Miles Davis, Billy Cobham, the Brecker Brothers, Jaco Pastorius, Steps Ahead, Blood, Sweat & Tears, and Joe Henderson.
“Stern is not only a wizard on the fretboard but also a profound and mature composer… He has successfully forged a unique voice that is at home in both the rock and jazz worlds.”
(Guitar Magazine)
Dennis Chambers is undoubtedly one of the greatest living drummers, having inspired countless drummers around the world and beyond the boundaries of jazz. At just 18 years old, Dennis played for Parliament/Funkadelic and remained devoted to their unrestrained funk for seven years. This was followed by performances and studio work with George Duke, Maceo Parker, the Brecker Brothers, Santana, John McLaughlin, and virtually all the giants of groove and fusion music.
Leni Stern was named one of the ‘50 Most Sensational Female Guitarists of All Time’ in Guitar Player magazine’s 50th-anniversary issue in 2017, with the publication aptly describing her as "a genre-crossing adventurer." She studied at Berklee College, took lessons with Bill Frisell, through whom she met her husband Mike. Over the past 15 years, she has fused her long-honed contemporary jazz sound with a deep exploration of West African styles.
Bob Franceschini, well-connected far beyond the New York jazz scene, first played with Mike Stern over twenty years ago. The saxophonist has recorded and performed live with artists such as George Benson, Chaka Khan, Paul Simon, Eddie Palmieri, Ruben Blades, The Yellow Jackets, and Willie Colon.
Chris Minh Doky is a Danish jazz bassist who has been a prominent figure on the international scene for more than 30 years. Since 1989, he has been active in the New York jazz world, working with many prominent musicians such as Joey Calderazzo, the Brecker Brothers, Curtis Stigers, Trilok Gurtu, Kenny Garrett, Bill Stewart, and countless others.
