For a long time, the color grading wasn't that good in Final Cut Pro X and you needed some paid plugins for that. But that changed a few months ago. Since the update 10.4, FCPX has very good and usable tools for both color correction and grading.

Of course, you still need to know what you're doing when you color grade in Final Cut Pro X and you should have a good workflow. So you can work as efficient as possible.
