Using shape builder tool in Affinity Designer Version Two
In the previous version of affinity designer they were some tells you could choose to join objects together to make a new shapes. You could also cut areas out of all the shapes in a cookie-cutter fashion to make your new shapes. Then there was the intersection and a couple of other options.
In this new version of Affinity Designer there is a new tool called Shape Builder. You can either add or delete shapes and part of shapes where they overlap other shapes. You have to first of all select the shapes you want to work with. Then who is the S key on the keyboard to get to the shape builder. There is a choice of how you work with these tools. There is a freehand drawing method in which you draw over the areas you want to keep or delete. When you’re using the delete part of the tool you can just click on the areas you want to remove and they are gone.
It seemed a little confusing at first on how this works but after a little while I got the hang of it. I found that the free hand tool or the line tool is the best way to be specific about which areas do you want to add to or delete from the shape. When you’re using the marquee selection tool you may find that holes or negative areas inside a shape can get deleted.
