'Employment - Supporting Recovery and Reducing Stigma'

Dundee and Glasgow - 12th and 13th of December 2017

Scottish Drugs Forum hosted two events which aimed to highlight the importance that employment can have on recovery from drug or alcohol problems.

Topics that were discussed include barriers to employment; such as criminal convictions, literacy issues, lack of qualifications and self-esteem.

Pieter van Schie, Chief Executive MD at Werkcenter International and Werkcenter Scotland, employment and Welfare to Work specialist led the keynote lecture in Glasgow, providing a European perspective to approaching recovery through employment.

The event was also an opportunity to discuss the work of the award-winning Addiction Worker Training Project, which supports and trains people with a history of problem drug or alcohol use to work in the Social Care field.
