This is the one thing we get wrong with WhatsApp, Teams and Slack...
When talking about New Work, one of the topics I am often asked to speak about, are new tools since I have shared my thoughts for so many years now on YouTube. A big game-changer during the last years has been the form of messenger communication driven by WhatsApp, Microsoft Teams, WeChat, Slack etc.
These channels can make company communication faster, more transparent and more intensive which is what we need in times of rapid change and extreme complexity. But we still see many companies that fall back into email mode and the stress that comes with it due to intransparent conversations. We slow ourselves down since we are not accustomed to open conversations in groups or channels and it's so easy to feel as though your ego is threatened through this new unfiltered form of communication.
But group communication is far more important for the internal digital transformation than we think and it's more about us and how we use the tools than about the feature of the individual messaging service... Some thoughts on Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp and Slack...
