Dalton Police have arrested two men on child molestation charges.
Police say the incidents are unrelated but hope the arrests encourage other victims to step forward to get justice.
A high school boy, 17-years-old, was arrested on child molestation and criminal attempt to commit a felony charges.
"Several incidents on a school bus, where he was touching a fellow student, a minor female, inappropriately," said Bruce Frazier, with the Dalton Police Department. "And another incident where he got on top of a teenage female at a house part and tried to have sex with her."
Because, he tried to have sex with the minor against her will, he was charged with the attempt to commit a felony.
This was not the only arrest made in Dalton on child molestation charges, Friday.
33-year-old Juan Ibarra was charged in an incident that happened two years ago.
"The fact that we were able to find enough for a warrant in this investigation, should indicate to people that even if time has passed investigators will believe you and work to get justice in your case," Frazier said.
We spoke with a victim's advocate at The Partnership's rape crisis center, and she said it is not uncommon for victims to disclose information about what happened, much later on.
She added that in 2014, in Tennessee, there was a 22% increase in teens being served.
"All across the board in the state of Tennessee, we are seeing an increase in teenagers being served in programs like ours, sexual assault programs."
