General Zuo Quan earned his fame for his role in aiding Commander Peng Dehuai in the “Hundred-Regiments Campaign” in 1940, the biggest attack led by the Chinese Communist Party against the Japanese army during the war. In 1941, General Zuo led troops in the Battle of Huangya Cave to protect an arsenal, defeating the Japanese troops with his much smaller forces.
