The market takes a unique take on the thriving street food scene, priding itself on being an incubator for startups and foodies who are making their first foray into business. Although many of the independent traders that line the streets at the Street Food Union have come out of professional kitchens, this is their first time out on their own.

Street Food Union has recently launched its own ‘disloyalty card’, which rewards customers with a delicious free lunch once they’ve tasted their way around every stall at the market. What more motivation do you need!

The market is as much a source of fresh, local and delicious produce as it is a meeting place for locals and tourists who want to experience the buzz and energy of Soho. The choice at the Street Food Union is fantastic, taking you on a tasting tour around the world, from Korea to Spain and passing India along the way! The fact that the traders change on a regular basis means there’s always something new to try, even for the droves of regulars who flood the market at lunchtime.

Food blogger Jaya Sabnani’s favourite stall seems to change with the weather: "Radical Routes is perfect for a healthy day, their salads are wholesome and full of flavour. On a miserable cold day it’s the Hot Mess Poutine that hits the comfort spot."

Other highlights include Dixie Union, a delight for lovers of food from the Deep South with plenty of southern sole. Their slow cooked pull pork burgers (which take eight hours to perfect) are the brainchild of owner Nick, and have received rave reviews across London.

It’s also well worth stopping by at Pyrlandia, a stall specialising in Polish food, which is often underrepresented at London’s street food markets. If you like wholesome, nutritious food, and plenty of it, then you won’t be disappointed!

As Soho is such a fantastic area for great food, there are also a number of hidden gems just a short walk from the market. On Berwick St. there’s a market where you can find a similar array of street food stores including Pit Shop Café, definitely one of the best spots for Chinese stir fries, and Savage Salads. You can then wash it all down with an Espresso Martini from Damson & Co.
