As I walked along the beach in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, I accidentally came upon the Blue Parrot Nightclub. This video was taken the afternoon of Tuesday January 17th, 2017. As you can see, the Policia fenced off the property, presumably to preserve the crime scene.

Locals I spoke with indicated that it was cartel related. (As was the Cancun shooting not four days later) The Blue Parrot Nightclub didn't pay their 'taxes'. So, the cartel allegedly sent a clear message. What do you think?

The Blueparrot is nestled right in the middle of the Playa Del Carmen beach/bar/ocean scene. It was creepy to be walking along the beach, watching tourists enjoying themselves in adjacent establishments, and then to suddenly stumble across this scene.

Note the Policia at the end of the video. Hard to see but he was armed with a machine gun. There were several other armed Policia nearby.

Gunfire erupted early Monday January 16th, 2017 at a club in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, leaving at least five people dead and more than a dozen others injured, officials said.

The dead included one US national, a Canadian, an Italian and two Mexican nationals.

The shooting broke out at an electronic music festival that had drawn visitors from around the world to the beach resort city.
