Vestibular disease is a common condition in older dogs. Most commonly associated with head tilt, horizontal nystagmus (eyes move from left to right rapidly), inability to stand or walk (ataxia) and often come on without any indication or forewarning. I know this is scary for owners, and often happens to older dogs but if you are patient they often get up and walk again within a few days. Don't give up on day one and don't euthanize these dogs! Here is Abbey at day 4. She couldn't walk or stand until 4 days after she was diagnosed. This is common for this condition.
