STORYLINE:
A fire gutted an entire floor of Nairobi's city hall early on Tuesday and destroyed old and recent engineering plans for Nairobi's roads and other infrastructure.
No one was injured in the fire that started at 2 a.m. (2300 GMT Monday).
The fire started in the middle of the third floor and destroyed a public meeting hall in addition to the chamber where councillors hold meetings.
Francis Atwoli, Secretary General of Kenya's Labour Union, blamed senior city officials for the fire.
Deputy Mayor Lawrence Ngacha said the cause of the fire had not been discovered.
Firefighters took several hours to put out most of the fire.
