ROARING GIANTS. The secret of dinosaur domination. And what destroyed them | Documentary
Development on our planet is constantly evolving. And if in the previous video we told you about how the strongest dynasty on our planet began to emerge, then in this video we will tell you how this dynasty conquered the world. This video is about the era of the rule of the largest creatures on our planet - dinosaurs. How they ruled for 150 million years, and what scale they were able to achieve.
About 210 million years ago, the once unified huge continent Pangaea began to break apart. The gradual formation of new continents, such as Laurasia and Gondwana, began to separate the flora and fauna of our planet. Later, the continents would split even further, resembling those we see now, in our time. Such events divided the inhabitants of our planet into different parts. This gave the opportunity for different creatures to live on our planet. For example, animals better adapted to the cold environment began to thrive on more northern continents, while even greater diversity emerged on continents closer to the equator.
This was the Mesozoic era, which was divided into 3 parts - Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous. During this period, there was a flourishing not only of animals but also of plants. Flowers began to appear for the first time. Thanks to them, huge fields of incredible beauty began to form on our planet. They provided food for beetles, which carried their pollen from one flower to another, beginning to pollinate them.
Such beauties are best seen from the air. And in this era, huge creatures began to fly in the sky above our planet. Pterodactyls, Tupandactyls, Pteranodons - birds whose wingspan could reach 3 meters. They instilled fear in all terrestrial inhabitants because soaring high in the sky, they were practically unnoticed until they started diving at great speed for their prey. Their pointed beaks helped them reach their prey even from the narrowest crevices. Chief among them was Quetzalcoatlus. Its wingspan reached 12 meters. This is comparable to 6 cars. A true aircraft of the Mesozoic era.
On land, things were even more diverse. Triceratops - huge dinosaurs with 3 horns. They could pierce their opponents with their horns, but fortunately for other inhabitants, they were herbivores. Tyrannosaurus rex was a true ruler of the Cretaceous period. With a length of 12 meters and large, strong teeth, it was the fiercest dinosaur of all creatures that ever inhabited. Huge crocodiles, such as Sarkosuchus, inhabited the shores of the rivers and lakes of that time. Hiding under the cover of water, they could leap out of it lightning-fast and attack their prey. Abelisaurids were one of the clades of theropod dinosaurs. The main prey of these creatures were young sauropods and Carnotaurus. They had 2 unusual small horns.
But there were dinosaurs that immediately caught the eye due to their huge size. Argentinosaurus, it is easy to understand where this dinosaur lived by its name. Feeding on leaves from tall trees, this dinosaur could reach a length of 35 meters. Most of its length was its neck. Thanks to which it could reach leaves from any height. By the way, they needed a lot of leaves, because on average they consumed about 50 kilograms per day.
The era of dinosaurs lasted about 150 million years. During this time, the world saw the fiercest and largest inhabitants of our planet. But it all ended in an instant, as a huge meteorite was heading towards our planet. Colliding with the Earth, it practically destroyed all living things. But we will tell you about this in the next video. This is the Space Progress channel. Subscribe and enjoy watching.
