In this video, I'll show you how to create a course from saved waypoints and then navigate the path using the Garmin Instinct. This would be useful when paddling or winter activities where you are not tracking an activity but saving waypoints along the way to keep you on course on the return.
The navigation between the points is straight line as opposed to the breadcrumb track you would normally see when doing a back to start for example.
To get started, PRESS the GPS button and scroll DOWN until you see NAVIGATE then press the GPS BUTTON again. Finally select COURSES.
In this example, we will CREATE A NEW COURSE and give it a NAME.
Now we can start to ADD LOCATION. For the first point, we will add our CURRENT LOCATION as point 1. Then we can ADD LOCATION again, but this time we will select from SAVED LOCATIONS.
From here you add as many waypoints you need. Once DONE, it will create the course and we can now view the MAP, DETAILS, EDIT and DELETE and more importantly DO COURSE.
Once you acquire a GPS signal, PRESS the GPS Button to start the navigation activity. Press the GPS Button again to pause. Wait a few seconds and you will see the menu options to RESUME, SAVE, RESUME LATER, LAPS, BACK TO START or DISCARD (the activity not the course).
