Thursday, June 6, marks the 80th anniversary of one of the most significant military invasions in history, commonly known as D-Day. Eight decades ago, more than 150,000 troops stormed the beaches of Normandy, France, during World War II.
To honor this historic occasion, the Virginia War Memorial has unveiled a new exhibit — “D+80: Virginians in the Normandy Invasion” — which features firsthand accounts from soldiers who participated in the operation.
