Of the many cook books in the Cavalcade library, the ones I tend to go to often are the "community cook books." These are books that were published by groups of people like churches, schools, hospitals, charities, radio stations, clubs, and organizations where many people contributed recipes. There are many reason to love these old cook books. They really capture the foods popular at a time and place. Also, many of the recipes are long held family favorites and tested countless times in the kitchens of these home cooks. These cook books can be found at garage sales, thrift stores, estate sales, book sales, etc. and hold some of the best recipes you'll find anywhere!
