Ethnic Serb Protesters Clash With KFOR Troops In Northern Kosovo | Kosovo Serbia Conflict 2023 Live
Dozens of Kosovan Serb protesters gathered in front of Zvecan's municipal building on Wednesday (May 31) to demand the removal of the elected mayor, an ethnic Albanian, from office.
The protesters raised a giant Serbian flag and emphasized their intention to maintain a peaceful gathering.
"Once again, we request that today's gathering proceeds peacefully as we are renowned for our peaceful nature," said Srdjan Milosavljevic, one of the protest organizers.
The northern Kosovo town was the site of violent clashes on Monday (May 29) that resulted in injuries to NATO peacekeeping soldiers and protesters.
On Monday, clashes between Serb protesters and KFOR forces defending three town halls injured 30 soldiers and 52 Serb protesters.
NATO announced on Monday that it would send an additional 700 troops to Kosovo and put another battalion on high alert.
