Priidite, Poklonimsya (Пріидите, поклонимся) from Rachmaninoff's 'All-Night Vigil' (Vespers) was just one of the pieces sung on Leeds Light Night by the Chorus, seen here conducted by Simon Wright on the steps of the City Museum, facing Millennium Square, where many other events were taking place. Other pieces included the conductor's own version of 'Nellie the Elephant'!
Movements from Rachmaninoff’s All-Night Vigil (Vespers) have been performed by the Chorus at various concerts in the past few years, including several at Ripon Cathedral.
The Chorus has participated in four Light Nights, to date, as part of its work in reaching out to audiences who do not normally go to concerts. Audiences tend to be very diverse, and include many children.
