Today is all about dumplings! We’re diving into Shanghai’s legendary street food scene, starting with Shengjian, those crispy, juicy fried dumplings with a golden-brown bottom and fluffy top. Then, we’re heading for some Xiaolongbao, but not just any—these come with a special twist...they are stuffed with hairy crab roe!
Get ready for some lif- changing dumplings!
I'll leave the names and addresses as Google Maps doesn't work so well in China!

Shanghai has completely surprised us in the best way. I expected it to be busy and exciting, but being here has shown me just how special it really is. The city is a perfect mix of old and new, with its impressive skyline of modern buildings and the charming streets of the French Concession. Everywhere you go, there’s a vibrant energy—from the bustling food markets to the stylish restaurants.
What I love most is how Shanghai blends its rich history with modern life. You can visit ancient temples one moment and explore futuristic shopping districts the next. And the food? It’s incredible, with everything from tasty street snacks to high-end dining. Whether you’re here for the culture, food, or just to explore, Shanghai is a fantastic place to visit.

My name’s Gary and I’ve been living in Bangkok for the past nine plus years and travelling Thailand for over ten. I’m obsessed with Thai street food and it’s that obsession that led me to start this YouTube channel. I want to share my favourite hidden spots in Bangkok and the rest of Thailand so you can fall in love with authentic, local Thai food as much as I have!
I’ve never understood travelling to a town or city and not eating the local food. How else do you really connect with a place? Let’s get out and explore together and I guarantee you’ll find a whole different side to this wonderful country.
If you love seeing off the beaten path, non-touristy, local life and authentic local life in Bangkok and Thailand then this is the channel for you. If go go bars on the Sukhumvit Road are more your thing (I’m not judging) then maybe not!
