To celebrate #EarlyMusicDay 2022, here's a piece from our 2021 project, "Caledonia to the Capital", supported by a generous grant from the Continuo Foundation.
At the centre of the programme was the Fife-born Scottish composer James Oswald (1710-1769): here we perform his "Sonata on Scots Tunes", published in 1740 in Edinburgh. In it, Oswald takes various well-known traditional Scots tunes, and forms an Italian-style sonata!
