Today is #NationalPoetryDay, a day to celebrate the beauty and art of language.
Every year at Latitude we’re blessed to have a host of the finest poets around grace our stages, with past performances from the likes of John Cooper Clarke, Carol Anne Duffy, Simon Armitage, Liz Lochhead, Benjamin Zephaniah and many more.
We’re also proud to champion burgeoning poetic talent in younger generations, launching our Children’s Poetry competition this year with BBC Suffolk. Take a look back at the competition’s first ever winner, Anna, opening our Waterfront Stage with a recital of her lovely poem ‘The Mother Tree’.
