It is the Sharvan month of Lord Shiva.
In the Ramayan, mother Sita has been abducted by Ravan.The rainy season has begun and Lord Rama's search for his beloved wife is hampered by the incessant rain. Lord Rama, Lutchman, Sugriv and his troop have to wait for the rain to cease before the search for Mother Sita can be resumed. The anguish experienced by the Divine Lord is difficult to describe, however, Jagjit Singh cleverly weaves the Lord's emotions, the incessant rain and his prayer to Lord Shiva to produce this beautiful bhajan.
I have tried to capture the mood for this bhajan in this video,however, with very little information at my disposal,it was very difficult. Any further information regarding the setting of the bhajan will be welcomed.
