Dr Gregory Adam Scott is a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow in the School of Literature, Languages and Cultures at the University of Edinburgh from September 2014 to June 2017.
After Gregory completed his PhD in Religion at Columbia University in 2013, he was a Digital Humanities Postdoctoral Fellow at IASH from September 2013 to June 2014.
He has also been a student or visiting research fellow at National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei, Nanjing University, and Academia Sinica in Taiwan.
His research focuses on the history of religions, particularly Chinese Buddhism from the late nineteenth to the early twentieth century. His thesis research was on print culture among Chinese Buddhists, while his current research project will examine the reconstruction of sacred spaces in modern China and its relationship with religious revival. He is also developing a digital humanities resource for use in teaching about Buddhist religious and material culture.
