Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen has thanked Washington for the donation of 2.5 million Covid-19 vaccines, which arrived in Taiwan on June 20, 2021. The US initially pledged 750,000 doses, but later dispatched a larger consignment to the island, helping to ensure medical workers will be vaccinated. The island’s Health Minister Chen Shih-chung said Taipei will now consider extending the vaccination campaign to more people.
