The double fisherman's loop is an excellent rope termination knot for climbing lines and lanyards. The knot is difficult to untie after being loaded and should therefore only be used with carabiners. With a carabiner you can reposition the knot towards the gate opening and remove the carabiner from the knot to make it easier to untie the double fisherman's loop.
A good alternative for the double fisherman's loop is the anchor hitch.
