(8 Mar 2020) Argentina on Saturday recorded Latin America's first COVID-19-related death.
The 64-year-old man was diagnosed with the illness after coming down with a cough, fever and sore throat following a trip to Europe.
He reportedly had a range of underlying conditions, including kidney failure, diabetes, hypertension and bronchitis.
Has was treated in intensive care after being admitted to the public Hospital Cosme Argerich on Wednesday.
Mexico, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Colombia and Costa Rica have also reported confirmed cases of the new virus.
According to the latest official data, there are more than 101,000 infected worldwide and more than 3,400 deaths.
