Meet sweet Chirag, a proud member of Pakistan's now-famous Camel Library, which operates in Balochistan under the protective love of the NGO Alif Laila Book Bus Society. Since the pandemic, children -- especially those in rural areas -- have been without access to their schools or any formal routine for their education. This wonderful initiative helps by bringing books each week to children eager to learn -- distributed by caring staff and a faithful camel! More camel libraries will be launching soon. Since November 2021, there is a regular caravan of 7 (cute!) camels, with another 3 gentle giants in the pipeline to start in new areas soon.
On this day, I was not 100% myself due to a stomach bug the night before so I didn't walk the full 3 kilometres with Chirag like I had wanted to but the moments I did spend on the walk were lovely. Just wait to see the faces of the children, they are the real stars of this project.
They posted something wonderful on Facebook I think sums their mission up perfectly:
Libraries are about freedom. Freedom to read, freedom of ideas, freedom of communication. They are about education, about entertainment, about making safe spaces, and about access to information.
NOTE: This charity runs off generous donations from caring people like you, it's not a government initiative. For more information please visit their website. I hope you'll also consider making a donation: [ Ссылка ]
