Scientific Name: Family - Serrasalmidae (or Characidae)
Range: South America
Habitat: Amazon River basin and surrounding rivers and flooded forests
Size: less than a foot to over three feet long (30-90cm)
Diet: fruits, nuts, seeds, also take invertebrates and small fish on occasion
Threats: caimans, larger fish (on fry), birds, etc.
Lifespan: 10+ years
