Flash floods from heavy rainfall and lahars from the Semeru volcano have taken down infrastructure and caused widespread devastation to the villages surrounding the Semeru volcano. Our Semeru webcam is down as a result and we are blind to what may be going on at the volcano. The power pole supplying electricity and fibre optic internet to the region has been seen floating down the muddy waters as well as vehicles and other infrastructure. The lahars were described as hot and smelled of sulfur. I don't know when we will be able to get our webcam online again. It may take a few days. Starlink Internet would be really helpful in situations like this.
