After seven years of owning this car, it finally sounds like it's supposed to. A little louder than I thought it was gonna be, but the damn thing crackles like a rally car! Can't thank Danny Zicarelli and Corey Taylor enough for the design of this exhaust. This is a 2002 Subaru WRX 'Bugeye' with a 2006 2.5i non-turbo motor, which means we had to get creative when designing an unequal length header and exhaust setup. You can't just buy one off the shelf. So I purchased a very cheap early model UEL header from China for $80. It required some refitting. Then Corey ran 2.5" stainless all the way down to two Flowmaster FlowFX mufflers, finally ending with a Nameless Performance rally cat for extra "rally hot boi" effect. I don't think I've heard an Open Light rally car on stage sound this good, so I guess it's mission accomplished! Turns heads now. Sorry neighbors, I'll keep it in high gears close to home!
If there's some interest, I'll try to do a more in depth video of the design and build out of this exhaust. It's more complicated to get that Subaru rumble from a non-turbo car after 2005, so I know a few people might benefit from a guide. I've had this car since 2013, when it was built for my rally show My Life as a Rallyist, on the /DRIVE channel. At that point in time, we took a 2002 WRX shell and swapped the entire engine and driveline from a 2006 Impreza wagon into it. So everything originally was stock non-turbo 2006 parts.
