I got to speak with Joe from Motostrano in Redwood City California about the M1 line of electric bikes. The guy who started that company used to make F1 racers with carbon fiber. We started with the M1 Sporttechnik Erzberg. It uses wireless controls and a water bottle styled battery pack. These are high performance super light weight electric bikes, some of the lightest weight carbon fiber full suspension electric bikes I’ve ever seen. Joe carries a wide range of these bikes and they cost upwards of $6,000 but are in the high 30’s in terms of weight. I like that their bikes come with multiple batteries and use the magnetic EnergyBus charging standard. One other neat feature of these e-bikes is that you can take the rear wheel off (swap it for a standard wheel) and then remove the bottle battery and use these as regular mountain bikes! These electric bikes are made in Germany. The Spitzing is an R-Pedelec which stands for “racing pedal assist” meaning it can run at higher speeds.
