It was really great to see the local residents and children of Baseco joining the cleanup again. Teaching children the importance of proper waste disposal and to care for the environment is crucial if we want to see long-term results.

And I was really happy to see the students with their quadcopter water tester. It didn't work, but the fact that they came up with the idea, coordinated with DPWH and then followed through with the project is just amazing. I hope they'll come back with a stronger drone after some more testing.

Of course there were also those volunteers from companies and those private individuals who just wanted to give their time to help with the cleanup.

For those who want to join the volunteer effort, you don't need to pre-register. You can go directly to Baseco beach or ride the free MMDA shuttle from Quirino Grandstand every Saturday morning.

Personally I'm only attending on weekends, but elements of the MMDA, DPWH, PRRC, Coastguard, BJMP and BFP are actually working on the rehab. every day of the week. Plus some other government agencies and volunteer groups.
