Policy makers, private operators, and experts from 12 Asian countries examined ways to strengthen solid waste management (SWM) practices and accelerate the transition to a circular economy during a workshop on 5-8 September. Drawing on Japanese and global experiences, they assessed regulatory frameworks across different sectors to develop city action plans that address SWM more effectively and promote resource efficiency and the transition to circularity. Participants also visited SWM facilities in Yokohama and Tokyo to learn about their operations and applications of innovative technologies and practices.
