U.S. President Donald Trump welcomed Ireland's leader to the White House for an early St. Patrick's Day visit, Thursday, March 12, keeping up one bit of tradition in the midst of the disruptions caused by the coronavirus outbreak.
Trump met with Prime Minister Leo Varadkar in the Oval Office Thursday morning, before Varadkar went up to Capitol Hill for an annual bipartisan St. Patrick's Day luncheon with House and Senate lawmakers.
The White House meeting came a day after Trump delivered an address to the nation announcing restricted air travel from Europe. Those restrictions do not include Ireland or the United Kingdom.
