The Maverick Race X Series Peak District 2023 was my longest ever run to date.
Beginning in Bakewell, a town famous for its delicious tarts and historic charm, the trail wound its way through rolling hills, verdant meadows, and ancient woodlands, providing incredible views across Derbyshire .
One of the highlights (and slightly scary moments), was running through the world-renowned Chatsworth House Estate and along the River Derwent, while the sound of gunshots from a clay pigeon shoot meet cracked in the distance.
The course passed through the Chatsworth House estate, the villages of Baslow and Calver and included a couple of challenging inclines totalling about 600m across the course before ending where it all began in Bakewell.
