The new Blue Zones doc on Netflix wasn’t fully accurate…
Don’t get us wrong, it got a lot right and can help a lot of people live healthier lives. However, they gave the impression that the Blue Zones eat predominantly plant-based with limited meat consumption, and that in order for you to live a long healthy life you need to substation from animal-based products as well.
While the Blue Zones are areas found closer to the equator (which means longer growing seasons) many of these cultures prize meat, dairy, and organ-based dishes. Something deliberately not shown in the show 🤔
There are a lot of factors that go into why the centenarians live long, healthy lives. They essentially live the exact opposite of how many of us do in standard America…
They have low stress, move often, spend time in nature, prioritize healthy relationships, avoid ultra-processed food, and keep a sense of purpose late in life.
They also don’t engage in a lot of activities that lower the quality of life as we do - they don’t smoke, drink excessively, spend time on screens, or avoid the sun.
Don’t be fooled into thinking that you need to limit the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet. Eat locally. Incorporate meat and organs into your diet. And live ancestrally.
