Part #3 starts as I arrive at Ft. Madison near the Scott's Miracle Gro Plant, still in pursuit of the Local Keokuk/ Ft. Madison Turnaround, as it is very near its destination just around the curve. The old CB&Q FT. Madison Yard.
As it disappears around the bend , I hear Amtrak behind me. I quickly relocated in a half-baked attempt to get a look. Then I head for RiverView Park and conduct a roll-by of the S.W.Chief as it sits at the Ft. Madison, AT&SF, Mission Style, Amtrak, Train Station Platform.
I barely get in position behind the engines when the crew let loose a double toot, letting everybody know they are leaving the station.
I chase them as far as the massive AT&SF Era double-track, swingspan, and then zoom out as they cross into Illinois and around the bend out of sight, with a couple of final, distant TooT's !
Much work is observed all over the bridge and approaches, with a crane present and welding being done.
While watching all this, a loud siren Blares, harolding the opening of the swingspan for a Towboat passage. With this, I circle back out of the park and begin to head back towards my local crew and the Ft. Madison Turn, which should be about done breaking the Keokuk train down and preparing to return to Keokuk.
As I leave RiverView Park, I roll by AT&SF Northern 4-8-4 #2913 and AT&SF Caboose #235, and get one last look at the Mission Style AT&SF Depot & the less opulent CB&Q Depot as I head back to the CB&Q Ft. Madison Yard .
As I arrive there, the local crew is putting the final touches to breaking their train down and changing ends for the leed unit home.
And that's a RAP !
