Running away from abuse and discrimination, transgender women in Thailand find love and acceptance as ladyboy performers at Miss Tiffany's glitzy ladyboy show.

In this exclusive behind the scenes feature video story, PinkPlanet.tv interviews the top transgender performers backstage at Miss Tiffany's Show and discovered that many of these trans women have survived horrific childhood traumas before finding a safe space on the Miss Tiffany’s stage.

What started as a one-person show on New Year’s Eve in 1974 has grown into one of the most spectacular shows in the world, with hundreds of performers and several shows every night. It is one of the most popular attractions in Thailand. Beyond all the glitz and glamour, for over 40 years Miss Tiffany’s has simply provided Thailand’s trans community opportunities - when often none existed.

For some like “TuaLek” a 2nd Runner Up Miss Tiffany’s Universe 2017 and now one of the show’s top stars - this is much more than just a show or a pageant – it’s paved the way for her to provide financial support to her family which has lead to acceptance within her family.

And while many may wonder how a sensational ladyboy show can help heal wounds and build a person’s confidence, “Pop”, Miss Tiffany’s top star, explains how the costumes and make-up help transform her physically and emotionally. And when I asked if this show will help change people’s views of trans people, she says “the road to equality is paved one show at a time”.
